About Trinidad & Tobago:
Caribs and Arawaks lived in Trinidad long before the arrival of Christopher Columbus, whom encountered the islands on his third voyage on the 31st July 1498. The Island remained unders Spanish rule until 1797 at whitch point it was a French colony with a lot of French colonists from Martinique. In 1889 Trinidad and Tobago became one nation under the British empire. In 1962 Trinidad & tobago gained independence.
The Dutch, Spanish, French, Swedish and British were involved with the colonisation of the Island of Tobago. The Island of Tobago was considered to be situated in a strategic location. Hence Tobago is the Island which was swapped most in battle by the afore mention European colonists. Caribbean history is unique from place to place, but has some overarching commonalities.
Some other interesting things Trinidad and Tobago is home of the Trinidadian Scorpion Pepper, the second hottest pepper in the world.
